How To Survive Finals Week

It's that time of the semester, here's your final chance to make or break your grades. It's finals week. Finals week can be very stressing when you have borderline grades or just because it's finals week! But don't panic, there are ways to make this time a little easier for you.

1.) Manage your time wisely. Do not procrastinate, you will majorly regret it. Take the time to plan when you will be studying for each course and how much you will be studying for it; you can even keep a to-do list if you want. Planning will prevent you from being overwhelmed with studying, since you can break the material into small parts each day. Do not wait until the last day to study, which will cause more stress and probably affect your learning ability.

2.) Be healthy. Always get a good amount of sleep. This relates to managing your time, because you can manage the amount of sleep you can get, which should be a full 8 hours. Last minute studying will eat away at your sleep, which is unhealthy and can cause you to feel more and more overworked. It is proven that sleeping after you study enhances your memorization. Also as tempting and delicious it is, do not use coffee or any caffeinated drink as a substitute for sleep or energy. This will cause you to crash, and is very unhealthy. You need to be healthy and feeling good to do as well as you can on your tests!

3.) Relax Do not overwork yourself or spend all your time feeling stressed. Be sure to leave room to relax a little. Maybe go out with friends for a little or watch a movie! Don't study for too long, but don't relax too much as well. Panicking will do nothing but make you more stressed.

4.) Use effective study methods. Be sure to study in a way that will help you. Reading the material over and over doesn't quite do it sometimes. Make acronyms, charts, drawings, something that will help you remember better! You can also always go to tutoring or study groups. Be sure that you're not wasting your time on something that is not useful.

Finals week can be very stressful but it will be over before you know it, good luck!
